Rockwell International Corp is integrating its Satellite & Space Electronics Division with the company’s existing aerospace and electronics organisations in Southern California: Rockwell said the reorganization will put it in a stronger position to compete for the fewer new satellite contracts available; the Seal Beach Satellite division will become part of Rockwell’s Space Systems Division in Downey, the Strategic Defense Center in Seal Beach and the Defense Electronics organisation; it designs, develops and produces space electronics components, payloads, spacecraft, and integrated satellite systems for civil, commercial, and military operations, and the major program, the Global Positioning System satellite production, will remain in Seal Beach; electronics and electro-optics sensor programs will now report to the Defense Electronics organisation.
