Rochester Telephone Corp of Rochester, New York has been quietly building up a portfolio of tiny local telephone companies in rural Pennsylvania – and they are getting small: its latest catch, for which it has an share exchange acquisition letter of intent, is Lakewood Rural Telephone Co of Barnesville, which has just 1,275 access lines covering 25 square miles of the state and does just $750,000 annual business; the new one will bring Rochester’s tally of access lines in Pennsylvania to 26,000 all told.
