RMON MARKET UP 15O% LAST YEAR SAYS IDC REPORT

By CBR Staff Writer

Sales and shipments of RMON remote monitoring probes and software grew by 147.6% and 144.1% respectively in 1996, according to new research from International Data Corp. The report says that despite price declines in embedded probes, spending for standalone probes grew by 170% last year. Total sales of RMON products reached $567.6m in 1996. Boosting the growth, according to IDC, were the broader requirements for wide area monitoring; explosive growth in local and wide-area switching; and the expanding requirements for systems manageability.
