RM Technology, the computer-aided design workstation division of Oxford-based Research Machines Plc, has made a number of price reductions across its X Series product range: the company has also made 8Mb memory standard on its VX-486 machines and 10Mb on the VX-386s; RM Technology compares the VX-386 with a 60Mb disk and 10Mb memory to Compaq’s Deskpro 386/25 which has a 60Mb disk and 4Mb memory, costing UKP4,200 and UKP4,300 respectively; the VX-486 with a 300Mb disk and 8Mb memory is UKP7,725, while Compaq’s Deskpro 486/5 with a 320Mb disk and 4Mb memory is now UKP10,500.
