We are interested, but we are proceeding cautiously and need to analyze it first, said Seth Ravin, chief executive at Rimini Street. However, he declined to say whether the company has already held talks with SAP.
Mr Ravin was one of the founders of the Texas-based TomorrowNow and sold the company to SAP about three years ago.
TomorrowNow had been the focus of a lawsuit filed by Oracle against a SAP earlier this year. In the lawsuit, Oracle alleged that SAP had stolen its proprietary information used for customer service through TomorrowNow. In July, SAP acknowledged that while TomorrowNow made ‘inappropriate downloads’ of Oracles computer code for fixes and support document, the data remained with TomorrowNow and was not exploited by SAP.
Earlier this week, TomorrowNow’s chief executive and senior members of management resigned due to the lawsuit.
If the deal goes through, this would be Rimini Street’s first acquisition in more than a year. The company’s last acquisition was in early 2006, when it acquired Sidney Blue, a San Francisco-based company offering implementation, upgrade and technology services for Siebel products.
