Japanese electronics trading company Rikei Corp is teaming with the Japanese subsidiary of Korean chip maker Samsung Electronics Co on a joint sales venture in Tokyo next month. The new Rikei Semi-conductor Corp, will be capitalized at $460,000 and be owned 85% by Rikei and the rest by the Samsung unit. The venture will promote sales in Japan of Samsung-made chips, especially non-memory chips, and is targeting sales of $92m in the first year of marketing to March 31. The new company will have little impact on Rikei’s parent and group profit outlook for the year to March 31 1997, and the year after. Rikei has been a sales agent in Japan for Samsung Electronics.
