Rationalization of the company’s businesses is a continuous process, Reuters Holdings Plc chief executive Peter Job told a PaineWebber media conference late Wednesday, adding that the company has not done any major restructuring since 1992. Asked about cost control and headcount, Job referred to the company’s continuous initiatives, which he said are necessary for a company that has grown very fast in a rapidly changing business. Reuters will lay off about 170 staff in the Americas as a result of organizational changes designed to streamline the US operation and make it more efficient and sales-driven, Reuters America Holdings Inc said.
