Retinal Displays Inc has now completed its acquisition of the failed UK virtual reality pioneer Virtuality Plc in what was effectively a management buyout by former Virtuality chief executive Jonathan Waldern, now president and chief executive of Los Altos, California-based Retinal (CI No 3,212). The new company has signed up and re-located the principle engineering team to its new design and development laboratories, still in the UK. The company has technology licensing agreements in place with Philips NV and Japan’s Takara Ltd, and will concentrate on the personal display market, high quality displays for portable systems.
