Dallas-based microcomputer dealer CompuCom Systems Inc now makes it clear that it never intended to keep the retail side of its Computer Factory Inc acquisition made in April: the company is pulling out of the consumer retail market and is closing the Computer Factory retail operations; 14 Computer Factory stores are being consolidated into six locations in the grater New York area and CompuCom is seeking a buyer for them; the company merged Computer Factory’s corporate sales accounts with its own and will keep them, but notes that the retail side was run as assets held for sale so that the financial results of the separate subsidiary were not consolidated into CompuCom’s previously reported numbers, and so it won’t have to take a hit.
