REST OF MODCOMP TO GO TO CERPLEX GROUP IN AEG DIASPORA

By CBR Staff Writer

Daimler-Benz AG has more or less thrown in the towel on its floundering AEG AG and is now to sell the Industrial Control Division of AEG Daimler-Benz Industrie, but the move is unlikely to affect directly its Modular Computer Systems Inc industrial computers unit in Fort Lauderdale, Florida because its fate is already effectively sealed. AEG sold a 49% stake in the business on December 1 1994 to Anaheim, California-based Cerplex Group Inc. Cerplex, a logistics services company now has management control of ModComp. John Clary, president and chief executive of Cerplex-ModComp, as it is now known, said that Cerplex was likely to buy the other 51% of the company within the next seven to eight months.
