A magazine launch always seems a positive move, but this one sounds more like a rearrangement of the furniture International Data Group is launching Open Systems World, a monthly management magazine, in October: it will have an initial circulation of 120,000 of the most important buyers and infuencers in the Open Systems market, the largest community of these decision-makers available from any publication; International Data Corp reckons that today’s Open Systems market is a $40,000m business growing at 15% to 20% a year; the launch coincides with the demise of Systems Integration Business magazine, which will provide the basis of the new list; the company has also sold the Digital News title and list to Reed International Plc’s Cahners Publishing subsidiary, which is planning to fold the publication into Digital Review.
