Go on. Look at yourself in the mirror at the end of the day. Do you see a blurry vision of someone with red, sore eyes, suffering from a blinding headache? No point going for a new pair of glasses because the standard, paper-based tests for eyesight are outdated for those who spend all day staring at a computer screen, according to scientists at Lewis & Clark College, in Portland, Oregon. According to Wired, their research has shown that images on a computer screen are quite different from images on paper. While black characters on paper have well-defined borders pixels on a computer screen are fuzzy round the edges, forcing the eye to refocus 15,000 to 20,000 times during the day. The research is leading to new tests which will lead to more appropriate lenses for computer workers – and fewer headaches.
