Reply Corp, the company that has been buying Micro Channel components OEM from IBM Corp, has two new fixed disk drives for its line of desktop PS/2-compatibles: the 212Mb formatted disk drive has an embedded Micro Channel interface, a 64Kb read buffer and 16mS average access time; supplied by Conner Peripherals Inc, the Rambo 3.5 drive requires 4.2 Watts; the 1Gb formatted drive, supplied by Maxtor Corp, has a 13mS average access time and data transfer rates of 17.22Mbps to 29.8Mbps; the PS/2 SCSI adaptor bundled with each 1Gb drive has 512Kb of cache memory for added performance and it supports up to seven SCSI devices; the 200Mb Rambo is $3,300 to $7,500, and the 1.2Gb Panther is from $10,800 to $15,000.
