Through this agreement, Reliance Mobile users can access the BBC’s live news and programming initiatives as they happen directly on their handsets.
Krishna Durbha, head of VAS business and marketing at Reliance Communications, said: Today lakhs of mobile phones on Reliance Communication network are unicast streaming enabled. Through these phones, Reliance Mobile customers can watch more than 11 TV channels 24×7. Our association with BBC World News will enable us to provide up-to-the-minute international news coverage to our subscribers.
Nachiket Pantvaidya, general manager of global channels for south Asia at the BBC, said: It has been our endeavor that the highest number of mobile users in India can have access to the in-depth, credible and up-to-the minute news coverage that the BBC is synonymous with.
