Red Hat targets healthcare via McKesson

Open source software vendor Red Hat Inc has announced that it is teaming up with healthcare specialist McKesson Corp to target the medical services market with a new offering that bring together its Linux and middleware products.

The Raleigh, North Carolina-based company has put together the Red Hat Enterprise Healthcare Platform, which brings together its Red Hat Enterprise Linux and Red Hat Network update service with its JBoss Enterprise Middleware.

The company has also teamed up with Intel Corp and McKesson to bring the offering to market. It is optimized for Intel’s Core2 Duo processors while healthcare systems and services provider McKesson will deliver the offering alongside its Horizon Clinicals application, among other offerings.
