Red Hat, Oracle and Dell have announced that they are to team up to provide support and services for Red Hat's Linux Advanced Server operating system, and Oracle's 9i Release 2 database management system. It is believed that Red Hat, which is currently the leading Linux distributor, entered into the alliance because of the threat posed by the four Linux distributors that teamed up to form UnitedLinux last week.
The aim of the partnership is to deliver reliable, enterprise class Linux solutions on low cost, industry standard hardware infrastructures and open standards operating systems. Red Hat revealed that it believes the partnership will address the growing customer demand for performance and reliability in the enterprise market.
