For the three months to February 28, the company reported it broke even, compared to a net income of $214,000 in the third quarter and a net loss of $42.3m a year earlier, on revenue that was up 40% on the year and 7% sequentially at $25.9m.

Fourth quarter sales of subscriptions for Red Hat Enterprise Linux AS were up 38% sequentially at 16,500. Total subscription revenue was up 10% sequentially and 43% year on year, Red Hat said.

For the full fiscal year, it reported a net loss of $6.4m, compared to a loss of $140.2m, on revenue that was up 15% at $90.8m. Red Hat ended the year with $292m cash in hand, up $5.4m compared to the end of its fiscal 2002.
