Los Gatos, California-based data warehousing operation Red Brick Systems Inc has acquired two products to enhance its offerings from Engage Technologies, a subsidiary of CMG Information Services Inc. Under the terms of the agreement Red Brick has paid $11.5m for Engage.Discover and Engage.Fusion, but Engage will continue to sell the product and has purchased consulting services from Red Brick to enhance the product. Engage, which was established by CMG in 1995, retains the exclusive rights to sell the products as part of its product suite, the difference being that it has cash in the bank and a high-profile marketing partner. William Gillan, a spokesperson for Andover, Massachusetts-based Engage says the deal has enabled the company to plow some cash into its development efforts and freed it to concentrate on developing its core interests in the direct internet marketing methodology arena. Engage.Discover is already on the market and Engage had set the launch date for Engage.Fusion for either late this year or early next year, the products having been in development for some 18 months. Discover is a repetitive query and analysis tool designed to be used against large data sets, while Fusion is a high-performance data warehouse generation tool for multi-terabyte class data warehouses and data marts, powered by a graphical user interface.
