Red Hat launches OpenShift Enterprise 2.2, adds private iPaaS

JBoss xPaaS offerings help developers integrate SaaS, PaaS, and on-premise applications

By Ellie Burns

Red Hat has released OpenShift Enterprise 2.2, strenthening its xPaaS with a new private integration Platform-as-a-Service (iPaaS).

The new features, JBoss Fuse for xPaaS and JBoss A-MQ for xPaaS, offer unified, enterprise-grade integration to, from, and within the cloud.

Integrating applications and workloads across hybrid IT infrastructures can be complex and challenging. Cloud-based integration and messaging tools such as JBoss Fuse for xPaaS and JBoss A-MQ for xPaaS, allow for faster integration by removing the traditional infrastructure setup process that can increase application time-to-market.

JBoss xPaaS services blend the agility and flexibility of PaaS with powerful middleware capabilities in an enterprise-ready package. Red Hat combined its middleware stack and PaaS technologies to create a unified development and operations experience.

Joe Dickman, senior vice president, Vizuri commented: "The new JBoss xPaaS services on OpenShift deliver great value for our clients by empowering them to accelerate business innovation, increase efficiency, and reduce cost. The addition of JBoss Fuse for xPaaS and JBoss A-MQ for xPaaS enables our clients to easily and efficiently integrate cloud assets with on-premise assets.

"OpenShift Enterprise truly provides our customers with an agile and flexible private PaaS environment where they can quickly prototype solutions and increase efficiency in a standard and compliant manner. From a partner perspective, Red Hat is creating opportunities for us and our clients to deliver more business value with these products."

The release of OpenShift Enterprise 2.2 brings improved integration with existing datacenter infrastructure and enables easy deployment on a variety of virtualization and cloud technologies through integration with Red Hat CloudForms, the company’s hybrid cloud management offering.

OpenShift Enterprise 2.2 provides out-of-the-box integration with popular identity management and DNS management platforms for easy integration into enterprise datacenters. In addition, enhanced PaaS management for operations is enabled by the addition of application placement and middleware cartridge configuration controls.

OpenShift Enterprise deployment can be fully automated and controlled by Red Hat CloudForms. This capability enables OpenShift Enterprise to be deployed automatically to any hybrid cloud infrastructure managed by CloudForms.
