RECRUIT TO SET UP FACSIMILE MAIL SERVICE BETWEEN JAPAN AND US

By CBR Staff Writer

Recruit Ltd, the top Japanese staff agency and services company, is to establish a facsimile mail service between Japan and the US from September: it will use its computer centres in Los Angeles and New York, and will operate the service using an international version of NTT Corp’s F-Net; the store-and-forward system will batch up faxes in Tokyo and then send them over Recruit’s international leased lines to the US centres for a saving of 10% to 20%; there they will be forwarded on the dial-up network; other services will include broadcasting of faxes to multiple addresses or to selected lists; the international service will precede a Japanese one because Recruit first must get approval to become a second class telecom provider.
