Recognition Systems Plc has formed two new partnerships which will increase the distribution of its marketing campaign software, one with a US database marketing agency, the other with SAP AG, the German ERP vendor.

Birmingham, UK-based Recognition develops pattern recognition technology which predicts the take-up for marketing promotions. The Protagona software, which runs on Windows NT or Solaris with databases from Oracle, Sybase, IBM or Microsoft’s SQL Server, also features traditional statistical analysis tools and business rules for ‘what if’ scenarios.

SAP will integrate Protagona in its mySAP.com portal, to enable marketing analysts to plan campaigns which they can then analyze using the reporting tools in SAP’s financial ERP module. The partnership gives Recognition access to SAP’s 20,000 customers, a user pool described by CEO Bryan Black as a phenomenal opportunity. Recognition currently has 30 customers of its own. Integration into mySAP.com will be completed by the second quarter and pricing will be based on a per user basis.

The second partner is KnowledgeBase Marketing Inc, which offers users without customer databases a managed marketing campaign service with storage and analysis of information. The Chapel Hill, North Carolina company will bundle Protagona along with its databases.
