REASON FOR CHANGE IN ARCHITECTURE FOR IBM PERSONAL SYSTEM/2 WAS TECHNICAL

IBM senior engineer Chet Heath claims that IBM changed its Personal Computer architecture for the Personal System/2 not to stop competitors but for technical reasons: the original bus architecture did not allow the clock speed of the 80286 processor to be turned up much beyond the 6MHz of the original AT before EMC radiation exceeded US Class B limits for machines in the home, and he said in Scotland that the new range opens up new opportunities for entrepreneurs.
