Previously, iPod users could only access video content available through Apple iTunes. However, according to RealNetworks, now they have access to non-DRM protected videos from multiple websites.

The RealPlayer was launched after a five month beta period. RealNetworks claims that it is the first mainstream media player that allows customers to download and record video from different websites.

The company also said that by the end of this month, player will also extend its download feature and offer the player in nine additional languages. A beta version of the player has also been introduced for Mac users, which allows the downloading of non-DRM protected web videos from websites.

Additionally, the company plans to develop the new RealPlayer to add video transfer support for the Apple iPhone and iTouch in early 2008.

Windows Media Player and Winamp also offer support for portable devices like iPod, Creative Nomad/Jukebox, Microsoft PlaysForSure and Microsoft ActiveSync.
