With Microsoft Corp getting into all that hot water over a mere browser, it seems bold of Santa Cruz Operation to claim it is the first OS vendor to ship an operating system with integrated RealNetworks technology. UnixWare 7 and SCO OpenServer Release 5 will soon come bundled with RealPlayer 5.0, RealNetworks Basic Server 5.0 and RealEncoder. A featured-up UnixWare 7 Intranet Edition will come with the full RealSystem 5.0 Server, which adds Java support and better manageability to the options already available in the basic version. While SCO spokesperson Brian Ziel predicts that internet service providers will be using the integrated operating system/streaming media server for clients with audio and video content, he adds that the big surprise he has found in streaming media is its popularity as a training tool in human resources departments.
