RealNames Corp, the company behind the internet keyword system that adds a more user-friendly layer to the internet’s domain name system has filed for its initial public offering, hoping to raise up to $80.5m before expenses. The San Carlos, California- based company, formerly known as Centraal Corp raised about $70m in its third round in August, but that does not show up in the balance sheet included in the S-1 filing made last week. Cash balances were $4.1m as of June 30. For the six months to June 30 RealNames recorded net losses of $11.0m on sales of just $1.1m. The company started recorded revenues in September 1998. Morgan Stanley Dean Witter is the lead underwriter.
