REAL TIME UNIX DEVELOPER ALCYON TO SELL OUT TO SBE

By CBR Staff Writer

Alcyon Corp, San Diego developer of the Regulus real-time implementation of Unix, has a letter of intent to be acquired by VME board maker SBE Inc of Concord, California. As well as Regulus, Alcyon manufactures and sells VME board-level products based on the 68010 and 68020 processors and SBE has been a remarketer of the Regulus Unixalike for several years and sees the move as an opportunity to accelerate growth in both real-time and board-level VME markets. It manufactures high-performance micro products for the OEM and integrator markets, including 68000 family single-board computers and other bus-oriented computer modules for Multibus I and VMEbus applications, and accompanying systems software.
