President Reagan is this week expected to tell Japanese premier Yasuhiro Nakasone that the US will lift its $300m of trade sanctions on Japanese electronic and electrical imports at the end of June, rather earlier than expected, if the Japanese can show that they are now sticking to the US-Japan chip pact. According to the New York Times, the US will announce lifting of the punitive tariffs at the economic summit in Venice on June 8 to 10.
