REAGAN SUSPENDS $84m OF PUNITIVE TARIFFS ON JAPAN

Late on Wednesday, President Reagan duly suspended another $84m of the $300m of punitive tariffs imposed on Japanese imports, leaving only the $165m relating to access for US chip firms to the Japanese market in place – and they are the ones that cover high performance desk-top personal computers, lap-tops, and electromechanical hammers. Removed from the list are low-power 8088-based personals, colour television sets and power hand tools.
