Watch out Bernard Ebbers! The tough-talking boss of WorldCom Inc was delighted when he appeared to have snatched MCI Corp from under the noses of British Telecommunications Plc. But BT’s top people don’t take disappointment lying down. BT marketing consultant Ed Carter got a little upset the other day when a financial controller tried to limit his budget. According to the Daily Telegraph, the 6ft 5in, 238 pound Carter showed his irritation by rearranging the office furniture. A BT spokesman told the paper: We operate in a highly competitive market and discussions about marketing strategy are conducted with vigor and passion. Carter seems exactly the sort of guy BT needs if it ever gets round a table with Ebbers.
