Rational Software Inc has set a June release date for an upgraded version of RequisitePro, the requirements management tool it got when it bought Requisite Inc in February for $8.5m in cash. The new version will work with both Rational’s flagship Rational Rose visual modeling tool and Microsoft Corp’s Visual SourceSafe version control tool – key requirements in Rational’s grand plan to create an NT and Windows95-based suite that encompasses automated component-based software development from top-to- bottom. The other piece of the plan was Rational’s acquisition of SQA Inc for $200m in stock (CI No 3,043). RequisitePro already worked with the SQA suite of client-server software testing programs. RequisitePro is $1,300 for a single workstation and $3,000 per workstation for 10 or more concurrent workstation licenses.
