RasterOps Corp, Santa Clara, California is to supply an integrated live video-in-a-window product to Hewlett-Packard Co for the HP Apollo 9000 Series 700 RISC workstations. The graphics board-independent video adaptor takes one EISA slot, and enables the Model 720, 730 and 750 workstations to accept input from any NTSC, PAL or SECAM source, and to display 24-bit real-time, full-motion images on the workstation monitor. It can also be used as a frame capture board to save images to memory or disk. Users can resize the live video window and position it anywhere on the screen. Multiple display adaptors can be daisy chained as well to allow viewing of several live video windows simultaneously on one screen. It also accepts composite, S-video or RGB sources. RasterOps will design and manufacture the video-in-a-window adaptor for Hewlett to distribute and market under the RasterOps name through its worldwide sales force; it is planned to arrive this spring.
