Network security company Raptor Systems Inc says it is investing heavily in the European market and has launched its latest security products Raptor Axcess and EagleMobile 4.0 in Europe for the first time. The company says it is going ‘beyond the firewall’ with Raptor Axcess, a product that enables companies to provide secure access and control to web-based applications, by permitting individuals or groups of users to gain access to network information, while defining, sometimes down to individual lines on a page, which information they may access. Axcess enables a single sign on to one network, where it can issue permission to access every server on the same network. Raptor bought Axcess from electronic commerce firm Open Market Inc last year, and has been enhancing the product, to take it out of its traditional firewall market and in to access and control systems for intranets. Axcess will, according to the company’s international director of sales and marketing Gil Roderigues, eventually integrate with Open Market’s Transact electonic commerce software and act as a front end security product. EagleMobile 4.0 for Windows 95 and NT is an enhanced version of the company’s virtual private network product for mobile users. It creates a virtual private network between a remote users’ computer and the company’s Eagle firewall, using an encrypted tunnel, so that data can be exchanged privately over the internet. As well as launching its products into Europe, the company has also opened an operation in Sweden.
