Colorado Springs, Colorado-based ferroelectric memory specialist Ramtron International Corp reports that it has paid about $3m to raise its stake in Racom Systems Inc to 50% from 30%: Racom, based in Boulder, is developing contactless Smart Cards that include Ramtron memory chips – and therefore do not need a battery to maintain memory state; it has just won a contract for the cards for an automated fare collection system up in Manchester.
