Users of the BlackBerry software, developed by wireless communications firm Research In Motion, will now have access to the CarePoint platform, which enables electronic prescribing, internet-based communication, data integration and transaction processing over a handheld device or browser at the point-of-care.
The goal of allowing a physician to speak naturally into a BlackBerry device, in order to produce an accurate prescription, and be able to modify it before emailing it, could be the breakthrough needed to drive widespread adoption of electronic prescribing, said Daniel Sway of College Hill Medical in Cincinnati, Ohio.
