Radstone Technology Plc, the Towcester, Northamptonshire-based management buy-out of Plessey Microsystems, has a UKP1.5m contract to build procescor boards for Orbitel Mobile Communications Ltd for use in base transceiver stations for new Groupe Speciale Mobile – GSM – digital cellular radio communication networks throughout Europe. Radstone, manufacturer of VME boards and systems, is to implement the final design of the Motorola 68020 boards running Ada on the VMEbus, using a variant of its 68-26 CPU. Radstone Technology recently expanded its production capacity by acquiring Foundation Technology Ltd of Corby, Northampton, specialist in surface-mount printed circuit board assembly. The company sees this as an opportunity to boost its OEM production – especially for its newer VME boards such as the Motorola 68040-based single board computers.
