Tandy Corp’s Fort Worth, Texas-based Radio Shack has introduced the new Tandy 3810 HD, its first 80386SX notebook personal computer and one of the first computers to ship with the MS-DOS 5: it weighs 7 lbs, including battery, and the 20MHz 3810 HD has 1Mb memory expandable to 5Mb; also, there is a 3.5 1.44Mb floppy, internal 60Mb hard disk drive with an average access time of 19mS, and three-hour battery life; it uses Tandy’s Key-Switch technology, and a removable, rechargeable NiCad battery can be quick-charged in two hours with the computer turned off and four hours while it is on; the 3810 HD has an internal slot for an optional modem and a socket for an 80387SX-20 co-processor; options include 1Mb memory expansion upgrade; internal 2,400-bps modem or a combination 2,400-bps modem/9,600 send facsimile; it costs around $3,300.
