Rackspace has released a managed support service for DevOps tools to help users automate the process of deploying and scaling cloud infrastructure for applications.

The DevOps Automation Service should help developers and IT departments to speed up the time it takes to market their products, helping them to deploy, scale and test the latest configurations quicker than before.

The Openstack provider said the service would reduce any mistakes typically caused by manual installation and configuration, allowing organisations to better focus on innovation and other tasks.

Jonathan Siegel, product director at Rackspace, said: "The DevOps Automation Service is comprised of the same tools and best-practices that enabled Rackspace to launch 18 new cloud products, push code into production more than 2,500 times and run over 15,000 automated tests last year. These tools have had a significant and positive impact on our ability to execute and, through the service"

The company said users can also use configuration management tools such as Chef, collect application performance metrics and use workflow automation tools such as Rundeck and Jenkins.

Other features include support for Linux-based technologies and databases including PHP, Python, Ruby, Java and MongoDB.
