Rackspace Private Cloud has launched a suite of free, single-click solution templates for open source applications.
The single-click solutions can launch an application on Rackspace Private Cloud in minutes, says Rackspace, and there are six such solution templates.
They include Magento, an open source ecommerce platform, Drupal, the open source content management system, and MongoDB, an open source NoSQL database.
Writing about the release on a Rackspace blog, Bryan Thompson, senior director of products at Rackspace Private Cloud, said: "The true business value of a private cloud is achieved through the applications you run on top of it. Unfortunately, most private clouds don’t come with apps built in. Deploying apps from scratch is a months long process that doesn’t always scale. The deployments typically aren’t repeatable – they are unique, like snowflakes – making them difficult to automate and reproduce.
"The lack of hardened, production-ready solution templates and the time it takes to deploy an application are often cited as reasons companies move away from a private cloud.
Today, however, we change that."
The open source solution templates for Rackspace Private Cloud are free and available globally.
