Racal-Redac Ltd has picked up the Cadstar computer-aided design package for the UK and Benelux and says it will allow complex printed circuit boards using double-sided surface mount technology to be designed on a PC-DOS micro for the first time: Cadstar is said to handle up to 3,500 connections per board, 16 track layers and a thousandth of an inch resolution grid and Racal-Red-ac says that electrical connectivity is consistent throughout the whole design process; the package is available on the IBM PS/2 and AT or compatibles and costs UKP10,000.
