Racal Milgo Ltd is restructuring its three separate UK divisions – Milgo sales, manufacturing and systems – into one unit and is moving staff from Basingstoke and its two Reading offices to a new building in Hook, Hampshire. There will also be some realignment of responsibility of directors, says chairman of Racal Milgo Ltd Tim Holly. The news follows the close down of the Office Networks unit within Racal Milgo Systems at the end of June (CI No 718), which coincided with the departure of managing director Jeremy Thomas who joined Wordplex Information Systems. Racal Milgo Systems is the technical development and engineering support division of Racal Milgo Ltd. It offers engineering support for Milgo’s product range including the Manufacturing Automation Protocol, MAP, network it sells from US company Concord Communications, its Racalnet products based on X25 hardware from Telematics Inc and the Omnimux 2000, which offers combined switching and data PABX, from Network Products Inc as well as Racal’s own modems and multiplexers. Also answering to Milgo chairman Tim Holly are the newer companies formed to address vertical markets – the Racal-Scicon joint venture with the BP computer services subsidiary that offers managed data network services, and is bidding specifically for the government data network contract, and Racal Imaging Systems, which sells Sun Microsystems-based optical disk filing systems.
