RACAL AND THOMSON-CSF COMBINE FOR MILITARY ORDERS

Racal Radio and Thomson-CSF Communications have formed a joint company to compete in world markets for military digital access networks, reckoned to be worth $2.4bn over the next five years. The 50-50 owned company – simply referred to as the joint venture – will be based in the UK and offer high-speed multimedia broadband communications between vehicles and command headquarters. Racal and Thomson-CSF estimate they their combined share of the world tactical communications market is 40%.
