Houston, Texas-based R2 Technologies Inc, supplier of data acquisition monitoring and control systems, says it has reached agree-ment in principle to merge with Synergetics International Inc of Boulder, Colorado: the merger would be based on Synergetics which supplies remote data acquisition, monitoring and control systems issuing new common stock shares in exchange for outstanding R2 shares, and will result in an estimated doubling of sales, from around $5m to $10m; William Urick III, Synergetics’ president, will become president and chief executive officer of the new company after the merger, forecast for the first quarter of 1988.
