Qwest Communications has launched a new unified communications service platform that allows enterprise businesses, government agencies and educational institutions to merge traditional telephony networks with IP-based data networks.
According to Qwest, the new iQ Hosted Unified Communication Service (iQ HUCS) provides benefits of integrating voice, e-mail and video services so that they are accessible by landline phones, mobile phones, smart phones and computers. The platform also offers enhanced messaging, IP fax, collaboration, and single-number reach service capabilities.
The company said that the new service leverages Cisco multitenant call management capabilities that enables enterprises to utilise existing network elements while laying the foundation for unified communications capabilities.
In addition, the new offering also features an integrated operations system that allows customers to manage day-to-day administrative functions using a web-based, operations system. The integrated system can help customers reduce user set-up times by up to 50%, Qwest said.
Eric Bozich, vice president of product management at Qwest, said: “Qwest iQ HUCS is a perfect solution for large customers interested in quickly and cost-effectively migrating to a unified-services platform.
