US semiconductor company, QuickLogic Corp, will start offering a service in Japan to make and deliver prototypes of ASIC within 24 hours of receiving orders. The company is opening an office in Yokohama and will begin offering the service when its new plant in Singapore comes online before the end of the year.

QuickLogic said it expects to generate annual sales of 1.5bn yen ($14.7m) in Japan from the new operation. It has grown rapidly elsewhere using the internet to receive design data from clients, which are mainly manufacturers of communications equipment and home electronics, and delivering by air courier services.
