Irvine, California-based Quest is demonstrating integration between its Quest ActiveRoles provisioning and management software with its newly acquired Vintela Authentication Services technology that enables cross-platform authentication using Active Directory.
Quest has also introduced a new version of Vintela Authentication Services that includes the Group Policy technology, previously sold as a separate product, as well as support for Sun Microsystems Inc’s Solaris and Linux on x64 processors.
The Vintela products enable Microsoft’s management products such as Active Directory, Windows Group Policy, Systems Management Server, and Microsoft’s Operations Manager, to manage Linux and Unix systems.
Quest was encouraged by Microsoft to acquire Vintela and added the company’s cross-platform authentication software to its portfolio in June for $56.5m and 1.5 million options for common stock shares.
Both companies were key partners for Microsoft with Quest offering Windows-based application, database, and infrastructure management and Vintela’s technology for cross-platform authentication using Active Directory prompting Microsoft to take a minority stake in the firm before it was acquired by Quest.
