Quest Software has introduced the new version its Workspace Desktop Authority 9, an application that centralises management of the entire user environment across physical and virtual Windows desktops, transforming the desktop into a productive user workspace.
The new release provides a single console that lets IT access and manage all components needed to configure the entire user environment. This will enable users to log on and be productive, giving IT the ability to balance user freedom with control and security.
Quest Workspace Desktop Authority 9 features a new web console which does not need to install client but now can use a web browser to administer desktop policies across the organisation. It allows multiple administrators to work concurrently.
It also includes VDI support so users can enjoy roaming experience when signing in through different devices, where they can access their designed configuration on a physical machine, terminal server/Remote Desktop Session Host or virtualised desktop.
The new release assists with Windows 7 and Office 2010 migrations as it supports common folder redirection. This ensures users’ content survives the migration process.
IT can now save time and provide a consistent, secure user environment with central management of privacy and security settings for Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox.
Desktop Authority 9 leverages its validation logic technology to deliver a targeted, personalised user workspace that simplifies configuration and results in a secure overall corporate environment.
The new release reduces the risk and complexity associated with daily desktop management as IT can now configure each user with only what they need, when they need it, without restructuring Active Directory.
Desktop Authority provides a granular control rights that protect the environment from a host of security threats on more than 30 different devices, including Bluetooth and USB, while targeting security policies based on needs.
