Quest Software has upgraded its User Workspace Management portfolio to help organisations migrate their virtual desktop environments to Windows 8 and Windows Server 2012.

The company has extended its Workspace Desktop Virtualization 7.6 to offer experimental support for Windows 8 and Windows Server 2012. This gives organisations a view of how these latest technologies will affect desktop virtualisation environments.

It also provides insights into the devices which users are employing to access their virtual desktops to addresses BYOD initiatives and uses that information to create a context-aware workspace.

Workspace Desktop Virtualization 7.6 supports the latest Microsoft releases: System Center Virtual Machine Manager 2012, SQL Server 2012.

The company has also introduced Quest Foglight for Virtual Desktops 5.6.3 that brings enhanced visualisation to Quest Workspace Desktop Virtualization environments.

vFoglight functionality now comes with advanced resource monitoring for monitoring performance and resources in desktop virtualisation infrastructures. It also includes advanced load balancing to enable customers to distribute the monitoring load in very large environments.

Microsoft App-V Integration allows customers to identify exactly which App-V application is being used in Workspace Desktop Virtualization.
