QUARK UPGRADES QUARK XPRESS FOR WINDOWS AND NT

By CBR Staff Writer

It’s been ten years or so coming, but Quark Inc is finally ready to launch its major upgrade for the QuarkXPress desktop publishing package. QuarkXPress 4.0, for MacOS and Windows systems has a set of 75 new features, including Bezier-based drawing, layout and design tools; features for long document production and for users on networked workgroups; and a new user interface. The application has been re-worked to support 32-bit processing and, significantly for a company that grew its business as a Macintosh-only package, has been engineered from the ground up for the Windows 95 and NT operating systems. A version supporting multiple languages, QuarkXPress Passport 4.0, is also available. Macintosh, both 68000 and PowerPC, and Windows versions, will be launched simultaneously, though the company has yet to reveal distribution dates. Price will be $1,000.
