Milpitas, California-based Quantum Corp and its Plus Development unit are suing Western Digital Corp, Irvine alleging that Western Digital products violate Quantum and Plus patents on the wedge servo disk architecture used in their products, and on the Hardcard concept. The design is claimed to give high data recording and retrieval accuracy and storage capacity at a lower cost than was previously possible.
