UK supplier of financial software applications Quality Software Products Plc, has formed a strategic relationship with Arbor Software Corp to integrate Arbor’s On-Line Analytical Processing with Quality’s Universal OLAS software. Quality Software has integrated Arbor’s Essbase multidimensional database server to run as an extra reporting and analysis tool with its Universal OLAS financial software. The integration enables live data from OLAS to be dynamically built into an Essbase Hypercube, and conversely enables drill down from Essbase back to source financial data. Essbase will add greater business planning and trend analysis capability to OLAS, the company said. Quality Software designed the interface to Essbase using the Essbase application programming interface. The company asserts that it has taken the strategic decision to enhance its offering by integrating best of breed products, rather than diluting its core financial competencies by trying to write its own. Under the Arbor agreement, the two will jointly market and sell the integrated products.
